being able to read three books at the same time.
A first poetry collection by Scottish poet, Andrew Philip,
The Ambulance Box. I met him at the Arvon course two years ago. He blogs
here.
I'm two thirds of the way through
The Rabbit Omnibus by
John Updike who died recently. Three of the Rabbit novels in this collection,
Rabbit, Run; Rabbit Redux and Rabbit Is Rich. The other novels in the series are
Rabbit At Rest; and Rabbit Remembered.
And just in case I was enjoying myself too much
Meter, rhythm and verse form by Philip Hobsbaum. A concise but comprehensive survey. So I'll be able to say exactly what an
amphibrach is.
If you liked The Ambulance Box, you'll like The Opposite of Cabbage by Rob MacKenzie from the same stable. Rob's got a blog too, called Surroundings and he runs a reading serie in Edinburgh at the Great Grog. Really good guy and a terrific poet too. There, that's my good deed for the day :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Barbara. Must get that. Salt certainly did a great job of presentation and design on The Ambulance Box.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention, Michael. And yes, you must get Rob's book too! It's a cracker.
