Highlights 2009.

My Poetry highlights of 2009? Being shortlisted in the Bridport Poetry Prize, published in the Aesthetica Creative Works Annual 2010 and in the Stony Thursday Book, Limerick, and getting joint third in the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Competition.

2009 Poetry Festival highlights? Poetry Now in Dun Laoghaire especially Paul Batchelor, (picture right) Colette Bryce and Tomas Venclova and the opening address by US poet Robert Pinsky. The Cuisle Poetry Festival in Limerick especially readings by Catherine Smith, Ulick O'Connor and Taja Kramberger.

Attending the wonderfully friendly Patrick Kavanagh weekend of course and hearing Hugo Williams reading in Cavan in November.

Not wishing to tell you what your highlights should be, Michael, but coordinating a highly successful writing group, editing the fruits of that group into a top quality magazine (and two chapbooks), helping other writers to expand their horizons, running a hugely enjoyable Swift Satire competition and running a highly beneficial series of open mic sessions - well, they would all be near the top of my achievements...

Thanks Peter. I'm not alone of course, we have a great team in Boyne Writers Group and we are delighted at what we have achieved.
